Massive Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Locals witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the extensive power failures.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both areas.

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
